To my Republican friends:

This is what we’ve been waiting for.

We have the best opportunity for fundamental conservative policy changes in America since probably the early 1980’s, when we last had a President committed to change and Republican majorities in both the House and Senate.

To be honest, Donald Trump was not my first or second (or tenth) choice to lead this change.  I was a Rubio guy before I was a Cruz guy before I was a Trump guy.  And yes, I still doubt that Trump is truly conservative at heart, but it looks to me like he has both a mandate to change the direction of the country and the means in Congress by which to accomplish it.

Whether you were a Trump disciple from the moment he rode down that escalator last spring or a Never-Trumper until the bitter end, we all have the same goal now – reversing as much of the damage done by Obama as possible and bringing about a more prosperous and free America.

For those who have believed in Donald Trump from the start, it’s not time now to gloat or scheme about how to punish those Republicans who were Never Trump or who abandoned him when the going got really tough.  It’s time to be gracious, to swallow pride and to work to bring the still skeptical on board (even if they refused to do that for you during the campaign).

And for those who were Never Trump, it’s time to get over it and support his efforts to forge a coalition for positive, conservative change.  While there will be policy areas (like trade, for example) where many of us will never be in agreement, much of Trump’s agenda should be music to a conservative’s ears.

Despite my concerns about Donald Trump, I publicly supported him once he was our nominee, but I never criticized those Republicans who determined that they could not vote for either Clinton or Trump.  Everyone needed to do what they believed was right for America at the time.

That time, however, has passed, and we all need to be working as one now.

This is what we’ve been waiting for.
